In Member Highlights by Alyssa Crame

Ted Allan, bell captain at M Resort, is a third-generation Las Vegan. Throughout his career here, Allan has been a part of the city’s history, working in some of the hot spots back in the day, like Jubilation nightclub in 1979, considered Las Vegas’ first true dance club. Allan’s career has also spread across multiple resort casinos including The Venetian and Caesars Palace, but for the past seven years he’s been with M Resort. His duties as bell captain include “supervising valet and bellman, booking and facilitating transportation,” he said. But the most important skills he practices are his “people skills, meaning you have to actually like people and have a helpful personality,” he said. Allan offered up some tips and advice on the city for VEGAS2GO readers.

One of the best buffets, a clean and well-maintained property without the cigarette-smoke smell, and there’s the small property feel but with all the big casino amenities. Plus, we have the most friendly team members!

What is one of the best-kept secrets of Las Vegas?
That would be First Friday, an arts and culture event on the first Friday of each month, held around the East Fremont Street area.

Anything new that a tourist should know about?
That would be the High Roller attraction located at The Linq Promenade.

Name some places where visitors can spot stars?
Some of the hotels people can spot celebrities at are Wynn, Bellagio and The Palazzo.

What has surprised you most about this job?
The fact I still enjoy my work—it seems people in the industry can get burned out quickly.

What restaurants/lounges/bars have a romantic atmosphere?
Some of my favorite romantic spots are: Top of the World restaurant at the Stratosphere, the Eiffel Tower Experience at the Paris, any spa on the Strip and the gondola rides at The Venetian.
